The Roselands 'Devils' are proud to announce the recent selection of Carl Healey (pictured right) in the U25 Australian team to play New Zealand in the annual Trans Tasman clash in Brisbane next March. Carl has also been selected in the NSW Reserve Side for their annual Country Tour in December. He celebrated the good news by taking out the prestigeous Commonwealth Motor Inn at Tuggerong, ACT and picking up a handy $4000 winning cheque with partner Trentan Healey (no relation).

Roselands champ wins way to the UK!

Steve McGuiness (right)…bound for England to compete in the
World Indoor Singles championships.

Look out World, here come the Aussies! – Kelvin Kerkow, ranked at number 11 in the World will have plenty of mates when he travels to the UK to contest the five World Bowls Tour events at the end of the year and early in 2009.
The top 16 ranked players on the World Bowls Tour receive automatic entry to all five of the WBT events and Kerkow, ranked 11 will contest all five events against qualifiers from all around the world, all eager to gain enough ranking points to teach the top 16 and of course automatic entry.
In the meantime members of the Australian PBA go through the tough qualifying matches to earn a trip to one or more of the WBT Events. Australia, by nature of the PBA membership numbers has four qualifiers in the World Indoor Singles in a field of 64 and has happen in the past, Australian qualifiers clash in the first round.
Sean Baker will play Steve McGuiness in round one, Aron Hewson will play a South African qualifier and Andrew Howie will play a UK qualifier. Kelvin Kerkow will meet the winner of Jamie Hill from NZ and another NZ qualifier in round 2.
The Australian arm of the Professional Bowlers Association is expanding every year and is great value for the prizemoney and all expenses paid trips to the UK to contest the World Bowls Tour events. The chase for the ranking points is always a factor and a few good wins in the WBT events will elevate the players into the top 20 for the World Singles and an invite back next year.

ROSELANDS READY FOR NEW LEVEL OF BOWLING
The Roselands Bowling Club scored a coup recently when AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOWLS COACH Cameron Curtis, signed on as the club's Bowling Manager for the next two years, suprising some other club's in the NSW Premier League.
"I want to take Roselands to a new level of bowling. They already have a NSW Premier League team, so are already one of the top sixteen clubs in NSW but their best performance to date was eight this year, hopefully we can get into the top six next year but our goals at the moment are to improve the quality of the team," Mr. Curtis said.
